M.A. Linguistics and Web Technology
The M.A. degree program Linguistics and Web Technology builds upon the B.A. degree program Anglophone Studies. The contents of the latter are combined with elements from the fields of theoretical linguistics and language technology as well as with an increased amount of practical experience. Students will be trained for different working situations during their future careers (linguistic research, project management, programming, web development) and will be required to answer research questions on linguistics and language technology, such as text-technological or language-typological analyses, or linguistic universals research.
Of all of Philipps University Marburg's Master's degree programs that are rooted in similar fields, Linguistics and Web Technology can be considered unique for two reasons: firstly, due to its extensive technological orientation, which opens up a variety of comparably better career perspectives for students and secondly, because of the option of specializing in comparative theoretical linguistics, which so far has not been offered in any other degree programs. Furthermore, the exclusive use of English as the instruction language allows for a wider, international audience to take part.
